Dallas Afterschool provides services and programs to enrich the afterschool and Out-of-School Time (OST) experience for 14,000 children living in underserved communities of Dallas County. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, afterschool time has moved from a three-hour window in the afternoon to a 24/7 drumbeat requiring Dallas Afterschool to provide thought leadership for our partner organizations, mobilization of basic resources for survival and assistance, and provide distance learning to ensure children are not left behind. Our mission to improve the trajectory of our families, neighborhoods and community by transforming the lives of Dallas County children hasn't changed. The only thing that's different is how we're doing it today. Dallas Afterschool works with over 1,300 afterschool professionals at 180 sites throughout Dallas County. We coach, train, assess, and provide resources to programs, impacting over 14,000 K-8th grade students from underserved areas of Dallas. We also provide professional development for afterschool educators and enriching learning opportunities for students based on national best practice standards for quality and safety.
